Lauren Smith is the Program Support Specialist in the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Science’s Office of Scientific Workforce and Integrity (SWI) and administrative assistant to the SWI Director. She first joined the Office of Science in the Office of the Deputy Director for Science Programs as a Program Support Specialist in February 2011, and served as an executive assistant to several members of the SC senior leadership for over a decade. Her current responsibilities include providing administrative and programmatic support to the SW-DEI office; supporting SC’s outreach and community engagement efforts and initiatives; managing the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) program for the science program offices; processing and tracking relevant Executive and Congressional correspondence; and maintaining various information archives.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with a minor in English from Trinity College in Washington, DC. Ms. Smith previously held a high-level coordination management position with a real estate appraisal, acquisition, and property management company in Virginia, where she was employed for more than ten years. She has also served in the private sector as a licensed realtor for the states of Maryland and Virginia, a real estate appraiser, a recruiter, an employee specialist, and a research analyst. Ms. Smith has received several awards for outstanding customer service during her career.
