Dr. Nastaran Ghazi is a program manager within the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Science’s Office of Scientific Workforce and Integrity (SWI). Prior to joining DOE, she served as an Expert in the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Office of Director. As part of this role she served as one of the representatives in the Interagency Scientific Integrity Fast-Track Action Committee (SI-FTAC), where she received the OSTP Recognition for exceptional service. Dr. Ghazi received her Ph.D. and MPhil in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University, New York, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Rutgers University. She then joined the Engineering Education and Centers (EEC) Division within the NSF as a AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow. As a AAAS fellow, she worked closely with EEC program directors to manage several Engineering Research Centers (ERCs), including diversity, equity, and inclusion related efforts. She is the recipient of the Director Award for superior accomplishment for her role in the Future Manufacturing program at NSF. Dr. Ghazi’s scientific expertise include experimental and computational solid mechanics and materials characterization for pharmaceutical manufacturing. She is the mother of two handsome boys and if work-life-balance is a thing, she enjoys cooking, and watching a good movie!
