Alexandra Laing is a well-respected educational leader working to promote and implement STEM and PBL education on a national level. In Alexandra's over 15 years in education, she has been a teacher at the elementary and secondary levels, a school district K-12 STEM Instructional Specialist, a Director of School Leadership and Accountability, and is currently partnered with 3DE by Junior Achievement as the National Director of School Leadership in which she oversees partnering 3DE public schools across the United States. Alexandra has presented at numerous national conferences on the implementation of standards-aligned problem-based learning, diversity and equity through STEM in K-12 and higher education, collaborated with Magnet Schools of America and the Florida Department of Education for science and STEM education, and served as a 2019 Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Congressional Fellow with Senator Jacky Rosen where she helped to develop and introduce multiple pieces of legislation and managed the Senator's education and STEM portfolios. Alexandra has a B.S. in Elementary and Middle Education in English Language Arts and Science, a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership, and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Administration at The George Washington University where she is a Doctoral Candidate working on her dissertation about the educational leader's perceived or actualized role in establishing grading practices that support student learning. She has been recognized and highly awarded for her contributions and dedication to education including being named the 2015 Boca Raton Rotary Club Sunrise Teacher of the Year, the 2015 J.C. Mitchell Elementary Teacher of the Year, the 2016 Florida Science Finalist for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, and a 2020 ASCD Emerging Leader. Alexandra is a contributing author in the upcoming book, Climate Change Education: Reimagining the Future with Alternative Forms of Storytelling.
