Cristal Jones-Harris, Ed. D., is a teacher at Creekside High School, Fulton County Schools, in Fairburn, Georgia. Dr. Jones-Harris is serving her fellowship in the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Office of Education at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD, and NASA Headquarters in Washington, DC. Dr. Jones-Harris has 20 years of teaching experience educating high-need secondary student populations in robotics, information technology and Advanced Placement Computer Science. Dr. Jones-Harris has served in K-12 STEM Education roles at the local, regional and federal levels such as local technology fair liaison, FIRST Robotics Sponsor and Mentor, Adjunct Instructor in Computer Science for the Georgia Department of Education’s Virtual School, and STEM Professional Development Facilitator at Fulton County Schools, Georgia. Dr. Jones-Harris’ K-12 STEM Outreach includes her work as College Board Advanced Placement Reader in Computer Science, Robotics Instructor for Saturday sessions and summer camps in her community, and Information Technology Consultant for Fisk University in Nashville, TN. Dr. Jones-Harris has served as a grant reviewer on numerous panels for the National Science Foundation and U.S. Department of Education. Dr. Jones-Harris’ scholarly accomplishments include her mathematics education and cognitive science research presented at the College Board conferences in Los Angeles and New York, American Educational Research Association conference in Montreal, Canada and San Francisco, CA and at Carnegie Mellon University Learning Sciences Workshop in Pittsburgh, PA.
Dr. Jones-Harris has an Ed.D. from Georgia Southern University and a B.A. from Clark Atlanta University. She is a member of the American Educational Research Association (AERA), Computer Science Teacher Association (CSTA) and National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM).
