Cynthia Wirth began teaching Spanish Language and Culture in 2009 and currently teaches biology and environmental science at Columbus Signature Academy New Tech Campus. In 2003, Ms. Wirth developed and taught an ocean-based field school for teachers and in 2015, she developed and taught a Marine Ecology High School Student Study Abroad summer course in Bonaire, Dutch Caribbean. Ms. Wirth holds a B.A. in biology and Spanish from the University of Evansville, a M.A. in anthropology/archaeology and a Graduate Certificate in underwater resource management from Indiana University. She completed Indiana University’s Secondary Transition to Teach Program and mentors new science teacher candidates. Ms. Wirth has hosted a STEM Project Based Learning instruction session for the Woodrow Wilson Indiana Teaching Fellowship cohort from University of Indianapolis and facilitated students in collaborating with administrators for their schools’ STEM Certifications. The winner of several Innovation Award grants for projects, Ms. Wirth has received national project-based learning recognition from the New Tech Network for two of her projects and was awarded the “Mindy Lewis, Above and Beyond Diversity” award from Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation.
