David Steele is a high school science teacher at West End Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. David is serving his fellowship in the National Science Foundation (NSF) Directorate for Education and Human Resources (EHR). He has nine years of teaching experience in grades 9-12, having taught science courses such as biology, physical science, chemistry, anatomy, environmental science, and genetics. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, David has also contributed to his school and district by leading professional development workshops on the use of 5E and Argument Driven Inquiry (ADI) as instructional strategies, participated in statewide Georgia Science Teacher’s Association annual conferences, as well as the National Science Teacher’s Association annual conferences. When not teaching, David is a doctoral candidate in science education at the University of and has his Education Specialist in science education at the University of Georgia, Master of Education in biology education at Auburn University, and a Bachelor of Science in microbiology at Auburn University. David is also the National Association for Research in Science Teacher’s Jhumki Basu award winner for his doctoral research.
