Fellowship Placement: National Aeronautics and Space Administration
Cohort: 2008-2009
Diedre Adams, a middle school science teacher from Terre Haute, Indiana, was a 2008-2009 Einstein Fellow with NASA’s Office of Education. While there, she coordinated and assisted in educational programs for schools, NASA launch events, and NASA conference events.
The Fellowship opened many doors for Diedre in which she continues her involvement even today: serving on NASA and NSF panels, working with the National Science Bowl®, working with the Sally Ride Institute, serving on the Board of Directors for NMLSTA, and working with Expanding Your Horizons, a national workshop experience for girls in STEM fields. As a Fellow, Diedre was certified to carry NASA moon rocks and has carried lunar samples to 5 different states and delivered lectures to over 3000 students. Because of her work outside the classroom Diedre was nominated by NASA for the International Frank Malina Astronautics Medal.
Diedre received her undergraduate degree in Math Education from the College of Charleston in South Carolina and her Masters in Science Education from Armstrong-Atlantic University in Georgia. She is a member of HASTI (Hoosier Area Science Teachers), NSTA, NMLSTA, ISTA, VCTA (Vigo County Teachers Association) and MENSA.
