Douglas Hodum came to his Fellowship appointment as a high school science teacher from Mt. Blue Campus in Farmington, Maine. Doug served his Fellowship The House of Representatives Committee on Education and the Workforce. He has been teaching for sixteen years, starting as an earth science instructor, transitioning to biology, and teaching environmental science on occasion. Doug has served as the science department head for more than five years as well as being a local union leader and teacher trainer for the Hope Street Group. He is currently the District II Director for the National Science Teachers Association, has been an active member of the Maine Science Teachers Association, and recently completed a two-year stint on the Gates Foundation’s Teacher Advisory Council.
Doug earned his independent major B.A. in Environmental Technology from Grinnell College in Iowa and his M.S. in Ecology and Environmental Science from the University of Maine.
