John Galisky is serving his Fellowship in the U.S. House of Representatives in the Office of Representative Frank Pallone (New Jersey, 6th District). For 23 years, John has taught physics, Earth science, electronics, robotics, and space science at Lompoc High School on the Central Coast of California. After six years as the Science Department Chair, Mr. Galisky established the Space, Technology and Robotic Systems (STaRS) Academy, an engineering program that integrates core academics in math, science, and language arts with elective courses in drafting, engineering design, electronics, robotics, and manufacturing. John also worked as a Science Coach to help elementary, middle, and high school teachers integrate STEM projects and transition to Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).

For the last seven years, John worked in partnership with CREATE, a National Science Foundation Advanced Technological Education (ATE) Center in California, to develop and disseminate curriculum related to renewable energy production and distribution. This project resulted in an international faculty exchange to Germany to explore the German Energy Transformation (Energiewende) and a new NSF ATE support center, the Center for Renewable Energy. John graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a double major in physics and astrophysics, and earned a Master’s Degree in Curriculum Development from U.C. Santa Barbara.
