Joshua Sneideman
Fellowship Placement: Department of Energy
Cohort: 2013-2014 and 2014-2015
Joshua Sneideman is a 10-year middle school mathematics and science teacher. He taught in Boston, Massachusetts, Trinidad and Tobago, Costa Rica, and California before his time as an Einstein Education Fellow from 2013-2015. Josh served two terms in the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. His time at the U.S. Department of Energy included a number of significant achievements where his task was to improve awareness and resources for energy education, specifically the Energy Literacy Framework.
While at the U.S. Department of Energy, Josh:
- Wrote a Ted-Ed Video “Guide to the Energy of the Earth” supporting the Energy Literacy Principles which has hundreds of thousands of views: http://ed.ted.com/lessons/a-guide-to-the-energy-of-the-earth-joshua-m-sneideman
- Executive produced the Energy Literacy Video Series: http://energy.gov/eere/education/downloads/energy-literacy-videos
- Led a team that translated the Energy Literacy Framework into Spanish: http://energy.gov/eere/energia
- Planned and moderated a panel with President Obama’s science advisor Dr. John Holdren, EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy, and students from around the country to discuss climate change.
- Appointed as a Minorities in Energy Champion by Secretary of Energy, Ernest Moniz.
- Led the team designing “Energy on the Sphere” for NOAA Science on a Sphere, which subsequently was announced by NOAA’s administrator at the White House.
Josh’s time as a fellow also included significant professional accomplishments:
