Dr. June Teisan is a National Board-Certified Teacher and career STEAM educator. Dr. Teisan served as 2008 Michigan Teacher of the Year, Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow in Washington, D.C. at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, received the White House Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching and is a National Teacher Hall of Fame Inductee. Dr. Teisan is a visiting lecturer at Oakland University, teaching future educators, and serves on the leadership team of the Michigan Teacher of the Year Network, Michigan Science Teachers Association, and the Out-of-School Time Advisory Council for the State of Michigan. She is the K-12 Alliance and Regional Initiatives Manager with the National Center for Women & Information Technology.
Dr. Teisan is passionately committed to widening opportunities for under-resourced and under-represented students in the STEM fields, and to supporting urban and early-career educators with rich, innovative professional development. She is the founder and CEO of InnovatED313, providing research-based professional learning experiences for teachers in Detroit and SE Michigan, and partners with them to build and enact engaging STEAM and CS programming for students to enrich lives, strengthen communities, and open doors to careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, Math, and Computer Science.
