Shelly Finley

Shelly Finley taught Physics and Astronomy at the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts, a three-year residential high school for gifted and talented students from across Louisiana.
Shelly mentored research projects each year she taught, wrote grants for and implemented teacher professional development programs, and was active in her local Intel ISEF and state AAPT (American Association of Physics Teachers) chapters.
During Shelly’s Fellowship, she selected and lead a student group to Greenland where they performed research with scientists on the ground. In addition, she did outreach to rural and urban communities in Louisiana and Oklahoma. After her Fellowship, she accepted a position at the Antarctic Support Contract as the South Pole Science Supervisor.
