Wanda Padula came to her Fellowship appointment as a high school Physics teacher from Liverpool High School in Liverpool, New York. Wanda served her Fellowship at the National Science Foundation (NSF) Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) Division of Computer and Network Systems (CNS). She has taught science for 34 years including middle school science, physical science, and Earth Science, as well as community college and high school Physics. In addition to teaching, Wanda has worked on physics curriculum and coordinated the physics budget. She has been involved as Science Olympiad Advisor as well as Ski Club Advisor at her school.
Wanda is a Master Teacher Fellow in New York State, working with other MST teachers in and around the upstate New York area as well as with preservice teachers. She is the Awards Chair for the Science Teachers Association of New York State’s Conference Committee and a member of the National Science Teachers Association.
Wanda has Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in science education from State University of New York at Oswego. Since starting her teaching career, she has earned over 90 graduate hours in science and education from various colleges around the nation, including Quarknet (Syracuse University), Cornell Institute for Physics Teachers, Nanotechnology (U Mass) and Nuclear Physics (Idaho State). Wanda is a National Board Certified Teacher in Physics and was selected multiple times as a candidate for Teacher of The Year in her school. She is certified to teach Physics, Chemistry, Earth Science, and General Science in New York State.
