SC Program Resources on PIER Plans
Beginning in FY 2023, all Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs) and DOE National Lab Announcements and other funding solicitations will require applicants to submit a Promoting Inclusive and Equitable Research (PIER) Plan as an appendix to their proposal narrative.
SC has established a public website dedicated to this topic, including Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for applicants and for reviewers. Program staff are encouraged to review the public FAQs.
The following resources have been created to support SC Program Offices in their roles in supporting and implementing the PIER Plan requirement:
- SC Program Staff FAQs – PIER Plans
- Guidance for Making an Exception to the 3-Page Limit
- SC PIER Plan Guidance for Interagency Solicitations
- SC Overview Presentation on PIER Plans (September 2024)
- SC Slides for Public Community Audiences (download PPT) – Example slides to discuss the new FY 2023 SC PIER Plan and Conference Proposals requirements with public audiences.
- Slides for Peer Reviewer Orientation (under development)
